Times of Refreshing
Third Sunday of Easter
April 26, 2009
Acts 3: 11-21 – And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets that his Christ would suffer, be thus fulfilled. Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord…

“Never Will I Leave You”
Hebrews 13:5-9 - Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear, and what can man do to me?’ Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace…”

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Easter Sunday, 2009
I Corinthians 15: 1-11- Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you- unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles Last of all, as to a dead fetus, he appeared to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and h is grace toward me was not in vain. On t

A Purpose for What Christ Did
Grace, mercy, and peace to you from God our Father and from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Here we stand; on this sacred and solemn day, we stand in awe at the foot of the cross. The world may have its constant noise and motion, may be blind to the things of God. But today/tonight, we gather together and open our eyes, our ears, and all our senses to the one great reality of what we’ve sung in the Good Friday hymn:
Stricken, smitten, and afflicted, See Him dying on the tree!
‘Tis the Christ, by man rejected; Yes, my soul, ‘tis He, ‘tis He!
‘Tis the long-expected Prophet, David’s Son, yet David’s Lord;
Proofs I see sufficient of it: ‘Tis the true and faithful Word.

DON’T FORGET ME, NOW!
I Corinthians 11: 23-27 – For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you. The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
